The Old School

The Old School in Church St. was built in 1862 and was eventually taken out of use around 1977 when the new school in Rectory Road opened.
This is the Old School around 1976 and Miss Priggs Bicycle is leaning against the wall.
Miss Prigg was the School Secretary / Helper and used to cycle from the Abbots Road area every day in all weathers.

The New School in Rectory Road, was built in 1976-77 in the grounds of what used to be the Rectory.

Many current residents of Rowhedge, still have fond memories of the members of staff, and of attending the old school.

The New School

The New School in Rectory Road was the inspiration of the headmaster at the time, Mr J C Maxwell.

Unfortunately he died just after the school opened for the Autumn Term of 1977.
