In 2015 SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) Inspector, Ms McWhirter, visited St Lawrence School as part of the statutory inspection of church schools.
The process itself was rigorous, time was spent reviewing a considerable amount of paperwork; interviewing groups of parents, pupils, governors, local clergy and staff. Time was also spent observing our Collective Worship and having lunch with the children.
We are delighted to inform you that the school was judged to be GOOD for each element of the inspection and we attach a copy of the final report for you to read in detail.
We are particularly proud that Ms McWhirter identified our school as; ‘An inclusive, happy and family community…rooted in Christian values.’
We were also pleased that she noted;
• ‘The importance placed on each child in this welcoming and worshipping Christian community enables them to become confident learners and achieve well.’
• ‘Mutual, substantial and valued links between church, school and the village community.’
• ‘(Parents) see the well-being of their children being given the highest priority. St Lawrence’s serves the children and families of Rowhedge well.’
The report makes for wonderful reading and is a credit to the school and the whole community. The process gave us lots of food for thought on how to improve our school further and we look forward to developing our Christian distinctiveness further still.
It is very encouraging to see that the fruits of all our labour; the school, parents, churches and community, have been independently and objectively recognised in this way. We can all be very proud of our wonderful children, highly dedicated staff, governors and parents and genuinely loving village community, all of which are highlighted in this report.
